Amy and the STAR Student |
We are so proud of Amy who was named her school's STAR teacher at a luncheon for the students in the county who had the highest SAT scores among the top 10 percent of students in their graduating class.
I've never had an opportunity to see Amy in action, but I do know that she spends a lot of time outside the classroom making lesson plans, grading essays and supporting her students with her attendance at their various activities. Teaching is not an easy career choice but one that can have a great impact on a young person's life.
Meanwhile......
Amelia told me a while back that she was going to enter a piano competition and win a trophy. I didn't think too much about it because she has only been taking piano lessons a few months. Imagine our surprise when she called to tell us that she had won first place for her level in the competition. She had to memorize and play a piece, play some scales and sight read for three judges. And she got a trophy......a BIG one! Go Amelia!
