What Else is Happening?

I never thought I would be announcing that Bubba and I are going on our very first cruise.  We're very excited about this even though we have always said that we didn't want to be stuck on a ship with a lot of other people.  We mainly want to try the cruise experience because that would be the best way for us to see Alaska which we both want to do.  We've booked a three day cruise to the Bahamas with Carnival Cruise Lines.  Who knows?  It is definitely worth trying.

In September, we will be returning to Montana to visit Glacier National Park.  We will fly into Spokane, WA, and then drive to Kalispell, MT, which is about 30 minutes from the park entrance.  In addition to traveling the Going to the Sun Road, we want to do a scenic float trip on the Flathead River.

We plan to take time to visit the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, MT and also the National Bison Refuge

Airline, rental car and motel reservations are made.  We were spoiled last year by Amy and Darryl handling everything for us; however, we think we can handle this trip since it won't involve huge airports and big cities.

And, we went fishing for the first time this year.  The fish were biting good enough to make it interesting and we had more than we could eat the next day for lunch.  (Nobody fries fish better than Bubba!)  I had wiped good with insect repellent and for some reason it attracted rather than repelled.  The gnats swarmed around my face and neck the whole time we were on the river.  They were so bad that I dreamed they were still swarming all night long  Bubba, who didn't use repellent, seemed not to be bothered by them so much.  I hope that Deep Woods Off never asks me to do a commercial for them!

Eastbank COE Campground

Needing a little getaway, we chose Eastbank COE Campground in Chatahoochee, FL, as our camping location on March 26.  We spent a few nights here several years ago and had forgotten what a nice campground it is.  Although we did not get a spot on the water this time, there are many lovely sites in this park.

Our main activity for the three days we were there was walking.  The campground has several loops and one gigantic hill and it is possible to get quite the workout.  When we were in Yellowstone last summer, we did fine walking until there was a hill involved.  We decided that going up this hill at Eastbank would be good practice for the future.  It was really hard and we only made it all the way up one time.  (My knee is still hurting from that venture.)

Other than the walking, we relaxed and read. One day we went into Bainbridge which is about 30 miles away and ate lunch and shopped a little.

We stayed three nights.  We've already made plans to return and have got a piece of prime real estate reserved on the water for that trip.
