We drove home in heavy traffic, after all, it was Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and everybody in the north wants to go south. We made it and Amelia was the best traveler of us all. We stopped for pancakes for breakfast and then ate at Sonic in Dothan. This little girl loves her Sonic grilled cheese and tater tots!
When we arrived at our house, Amelia immediately went behind Bubba's barn to where Archie is buried to pay her respects. When I walked around there she was on her knees brushing the pine straw off the slab Bubba put on his grave. This was followed by a lengthy conversation about what a good dog Archie was.
Sunday morning we attended church. Amelia was the only child there but she went right up for the Children's Message when it was time. The rest of the afternoon was spent playing around the house. Bubba fixed my bicycle so that she could ride it and they enjoyed riding together and of course the tree swing had to be put back up.

Amelia had pancakes for breakfast every morning of her visit. One morning I fixed some bacon that looked just perfect, but she didn't eat it. When I asked her why she said, "Nana, there are two kinds of picky, one where you just don't like something and the other is when you like something but it is not cooked right. Your bacon is the second kind of picky." Oops, she likes hers really really done. Now I know.

She was gone much longer that I anticipated and when she finally got back to our house, she was starving. Ashley said that she wouldn't eat what they had so she just snacked some throughout the day. I fixed her a big bowl of pasta with butter and cheese which she devoured.
When she was getting her shower, washing hair, etc. I realized that she was suffering with a urinary tract infection. I urged her to drink lots of water and helped the best I could, but the next morning I was sure of my diagnosis. After conferring with her mom and getting insurance information, etc and filling out a medical history form, we went to an urgent care facility in Panama City. We spent a couple of hours there drinking water and trying so hard to pee in a cup. When she finally succeeded, she she shouted "Thank you, God!" The doctor confirmed my diagnosis and prescribed the necessary antibiotics. I was amazed that she was not intimidated at all by the whole process of going to a new doctor. She talked to him and answered all his questions.

The next day Amelia and I went to Panama City for a girls day out. We both got pedicures, went to see "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul" and ate at Sonic getting grilled cheese sandwiches and tater tots again. (There are not any Sonics near where she lives. I guess she misses them.)

Although Thursday was overcast and looked like it might rain any minute, we went to the beach. Since it was so overcast, I did not bother using sunscreen on either Amelia or myself. Bubba had on a shirt and sat under the umbrella most of the time. I'm here to tell you that it is a fact that the sun doesn't have to be out to get sunburned. Amelia and I were both cooked pretty badly. I felt terrible. She and I both had a miserable night's sleep as a result of being so uncomfortable.

Amy arrived on Friday and I apologized profusely for allowing Amelia to get sunburned, but she had some Calendula Cream with her and she coated Amelia with it. By the next morning Amelia was much better. She was showing me that she could move her arms and shoulders without it hurting anymore and said, "Thank you, God. You're the best!"
Shopping was on the agenda for the next day. We visited a boutique that is owned by a family I know and both of us found some cute things. Amelia got a fidget spinner and conversed with my friends about her upcoming trip to London and what she planned to do there.

Our girls headed home on Monday leaving this house a little sadder without them. Amelia is growing up so fast and is so much fun to have around. We also enjoyed some quality time with Amy which was nice.
