Day One - The Adventure Begins
An early start was suggested by Bubba for our first vacation to a new location in a long time. We are headed for Branson, MO. I've never been in Missouri or Arkansas so that will be a first for me. I had trouble sleeping so 5:00 came faster than I would have liked.
I drank my morning coffee while I got last minute packing done and got dressed. We loaded the car and set out only to go a mile before we had to turn around. The warning light was on indicating that we had a tire problem. Bubba checked the pressure in the tires and aired up the one that was a little low. However....the seed had been planted and it was several hours before he seemed to relax about the tire.
We drove until around 6:00 and ended up in Jonesboro, AR. This was about three hours farther up the road than we had intended. We didn't have a reservation, but had no problem finding a very nice Fairfield Inn for the night. I have a phobia about motels. I guess I've watched too many of the news reports showing the disgusting habits of cleaning staff in motels, even the more expensive ones. This one is perfect. I just hope the one I've reserved in Branson is this good, but I won't hold my breath.
Other than that I can only report that Arkansas is flat with a lot of soy bean fields. We've already decided that we will go a different route home. I went online to see what attractions we might like in Arkansas and found that there are none. I'm certainly not interested in the Clinton Museum.
Branson is less than four hours away so we should get there in plenty of time to explore tomorrow.
Cool blog. My wife and I really got a kick out of the travels you are undertaking with Archie, the Cocker Spaniel, what a lucky dog. We have two Shih Tszu's and hope to travel the country in an RV with our dogs as well. We will be following your travels closely.
